A Single-Engine Airplane Parked Inside An Open Hangar In Morning Light

Aircraft donations

When the medical lapses, the hangar bill doesn’t.

Single engine, twin, experimental, helicopter, or a project that stalled.

Selling an airplane is a slow, specialized business.

The buyer pool is small, every serious inquiry wants a pre-buy inspection, and the logbooks get scrutinized line by line. Meanwhile the hangar is billed monthly, the insurance renews, the annual comes due whether she flies or not, and an engine that sits is quietly deteriorating toward an overhaul nobody wants to pay for.

Donating avoids the listing cycle entirely. We handle the FAA bill of sale and registration transfer, coordinate with your FBO or the airport authority, and arrange ferry or ground transport at our cost. If the aircraft is out of annual or not airworthy, that’s a logistics question rather than a dealbreaker — we plan around it.

We take single-engine and twin piston aircraft, turboprops, experimental and homebuilt aircraft, helicopters, gliders, avionics and engines on their own, and stalled projects with a clean title. Aircraft are among the largest gifts we handle, and they fund work at a scale to match: medical assistance for families facing costs no household budget survives, and support for partner organizations operating in places where getting anything at all to people is the hardest part of the job.

Four steps, and we do three of them

Aircraft take longer than a car — title research and transport see to that — but the work is ours, not yours.

1

You tell us about it

Make, model, year, airframe and engine time, where she’s based, and when the last annual was. If the logbooks have gaps, say so now rather than later.

2

We research title and plan

Within two business days. We run the FAA registry for liens and title history, and work out whether she ferries or trucks.

3

Transfer and transport

We prepare the FAA bill of sale and registration paperwork, coordinate with your FBO, and move the aircraft at our cost.

4

Your paperwork arrives

A receipt at transfer, then the tax documentation once the aircraft is sold or placed.

Questions people ask us about aircraft

Does it have to be airworthy or in annual?

No. Out of annual, high-time engine, or not flown in years are all workable — it changes how we move her, not whether we can take her. What matters more is a clean title and complete enough records to establish what the aircraft is.

What if the logbooks are incomplete?

Tell us up front. Gaps reduce value rather than disqualify an aircraft, and buyers price accordingly. What we can’t work with is an aircraft whose identity or ownership can’t be established at all, so the registration and data plate matter more than a perfect paper trail.

There’s a lien from a repair shop or lender. Now what?

Common, and usually resolvable. The FAA registry will show it, we’ll find it in title research, and we’ll tell you what the holder needs to release it. Title has to transfer clear, so this gets handled before anything moves.

Do you take experimental aircraft, projects and parts?

Yes to all three. Experimental and homebuilt aircraft are welcome, as are stalled projects with a clean title and documented build history, and engines, propellers or avionics on their own. Partial projects with no paperwork are the hard case — ask us.

Who handles the hangar and the FBO?

We do. Give us the airport and your FBO or hangar landlord details and we coordinate access, release and transport directly, so recurring charges stop as soon as possible.

How is my deduction determined?

Almost every aircraft clears $5,000, so plan on an IRS-qualified independent appraisal, arranged and paid for by you — it cannot be done by us, and a pre-buy inspection or bluebook printout is not a substitute. Where an aircraft is sold, your deduction generally follows the sale price, which we provide in writing. Given the sums involved, talk to your tax advisor before you sign anything.
